Stairs now
Apart from the lighter decorations and the addition of the inner front door, there is not much change to this view. I preferred an arched appearance at the head of the stairs to the original.
The rather primitive square section balusters were replaced with turned spindles and having spent many hours stripping off the many coats of paint over wood-chip paper on the right-hand wall, I replicated the well decorated left-hand wall with matching Lincrusta.
