Stairs
The doors to the two front bedrooms, shown open here, are not original to the house: under the floor coverings can be seen evidence that originally the landing extended a further
three feet, with the doors to the two rooms opposite each other. Presumably the change was made to maximise the space in the two rooms, but it has resulted in unusually narrow
doorways now: unlike the others in the house they are a mere 26" wide. This also resulted in the ceiling covings being unnaturally cut off above them.
