Kitchen
The kitchen was another disaster area. One reason for removing the chimney-breast in the bathroom above was that this one just had to go. In the first modernisation of the kitchen, completed in 1982, the floor had to be removed since it was rotten and fell 3" into the far right corner, windows out, chimney breast out, ceiling removed: in fact the whole room had to be gutted. At this stage there was no door to outside from the kitchen, which was rather unconventional.
